Speech Contest Explores Similarities Between Allama Iqbal and Akif Ersoy

Lahore, Pakistan - The Yunus Emre Turkish Institute Pakistan and the Faculty of Oriental Learning, University of the Punjab, Lahore, collaborated to organize a speech contest on the similarities in the philosophical aspects of Allama Iqbal and Akif Ersoy.

Students from Oriental College participated enthusiastically, expressing the poetry and thoughts of these two great poets of the Muslim world. Prof. Dr. Hamid Ashraf Hamdani, Head of the Department of Arabic and Prof Dr. Naveed Shehzad, Director Institute of Punjabi, University of the Punjab, presided over the session. |
The judges declared the following winners:
- First position: Asifa Naz
- Second position: Ayesha Khalid
- Third position: Syeda Afifa Bano
- Consolation prizes: Sehrish, Tehreem Mairaj, and Muhammad Arslan |
The Department of Arabic was declared the best team overall. In a generous gesture, Dr. Hamid Ashraf Hamdani announced cash prizes for the winners from his own pocket. |
